SUCCESS! Thanks to thousands of us taking action, REI has announced that it will stop using PFAS in it is textiles and cookware by fall 2024! REI will eliminate PFAS from its professional level, expedition gear by fall 2026.
Now, let’s get Home Depot to stop selling products with PVC. What is PVC? It is a particularly harmful type of plastic that is widely used in building materials. There are safer alternatives and Home Depot should lead the way in getting toxic PVC out of its building materials.

SUCCESS!In 2023-4, the Massachusetts Legislature passed a bill to ban PFAS in firefighter personal protective gear. This ban will be effective on January 1, 2027.
MORE WORK TO DO!We did not pass a comprehensive PFAS bill or the Toxic Free Kids bill. But, we got significant support for both of these bills and will work with legislators to reintroduce them in January 2025.
WHAT CAN YOU DO NOW? Thank your legislators who supported these bills and let them know you want them to prioritize action on PFAS in 2025-6.
Every other New England states and New York have passed laws restricting PFAS and Massachusetts residents deserve protection too!
